Our school nurse is available for any medical concerns during the school day. The nurse's office is located on the lower level of the Licht Wing Extension between the Main building and the Media Center. 

If you need to visit the nurse, make sure to bring your planner with you - for safety reasons, no student will be admitted without it unless it's an emergency!  

The state of New Jersey requires annual health screenings for all students. Screenings for height, weight, blood pressure, vision, hearing and scoliosis will be conducted as per New Jersey State Code (N.J.A.C. 6A16-2.2). Indications for concerns revealed during screenings are reported to the parents, and a referral form will be sent home for follow up with the appropriate physician. 

If you prefer that your child not be screened, please contact the health office.

If your child requires an Epipen/Auvi-Q, a completed Allergy Action Plan form must be completed and signed by both the child’s physician and parent/guardian. An authorization to administer an Epipen form must also be completed and signed by the parent/guardian.

If it is necessary for your child to receive medication during the school day, please have the physician complete the Medication Administration form. No medication will be administered unless the form is completed and signed by the physician and parent. Students are not permitted to carry or self-administer any medication at school, even over the counter medication. If the child's physician uses a medication order/form specific to his/her practice, please ensure a parent also signs that form. 

No medication will be accepted by the health office if not accompanied by proper documentation. Medications prescribed and filled by a pharmacy must be in the original container with the student's name and other information clearly legible. Medication information must match the physician's order. Over the counter medications must be in original packaging and cannot be expired.

Medication administration forms must be renewed for each school year.

If your child has asthma and requires administration of an inhaler or nebulizer during school hours, a completed Asthma Treatment Plan form must be signed by both the child’s physician and parent/guardian. Current CDC recommendations suggest the use of multi-dose inhalers (MDI) with spacers in place of nebulizer treatements when possible at this time. Please speak with your child's physician regarding the use of an MDI in lieu of a nebulizer during school hours. A nebulizer machine is available in the health office for student use, but students must bring or store their own tubing.
